Vol. 150 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Mayo Clay Deposits.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that there is a substantial deposit of clay suitable for the manufacture of bricks, drainage pipes, etc., at Ballymanagh, Knockanilaun, Ballina, and, if so, if he will take steps to have such deposit developed, and to provide a much needed industry in the area.

I am aware that there is a substantial deposit of clay in this area, and that the clay was used formerly in the manufacture of bricks. If a definite proposal for the establishment of an industry, based on the deposit, is put before me, I will make available to the promoters all the information and advice at my disposal.
