Vol. 150 No. 12

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Turbary Plots in County Donegal.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that 92 householders in the Drumacanoo-Churchill district, County Donegal. applied for turbary plots a considerable time ago, and if, in view of the urgency of the matter, he will arrange to have the required plots allocated at an early date.

The Land Commission are having inquiries made with a view to providing turbary facilities for this district but just now it is not possible to state what the outcome will be. I have asked the Land Commission to expedite the matter as much as possible.

Is the Minister aware that these inquiries took place over a year ago, or approximately a year ago, that these turbary plots are required for fuel purposes for the people concerned, and that it is impossible, as the Minister, I am sure, is aware, for them to wait two or three years without any fuel in order that his Department which, apparently, is neither supercharged, nor apparently run on electricity, can get around to doing the job? I suggest that possibly the Minister could see his way to make representations to his colleagues to have rural electrification extended——

The Deputy is making a speech. Question No. 20.
