asked the Minister for Finance if he will state (a) the total amount of money advanced to Bord na Móna to date, and (b) the amount of interest paid and the amount of capital repayments, in each of the financial years 1953-54 and 1954-55.

(a) The total amount of capital advances to date from the Exchequer to Bord na Móna is £9,291,358. This figure includes a sum of £389,801 originally advanced to the Turf Development Board, Limited, liability for which was, on the dissolution of that company, transferred to Bord na Móna under Section 63 of the Turf Development Act, 1946, and reduced to £358,742 under Section 64 (1) of that Act.
(b) The amount of interest paid and the amount of capital repayments to the Exchequer in each of the financial years 1953-54 and 1954-55 were as follows:—
