Vol. 151 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Monaghan Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission propose to acquire Knight's estate, in the townland of Dunsrim, parish of Currin, Scotshouse, County Monaghan; further, whether the house on the lands is in possession of a person who refused to vacate it, and, if so, if he will direct that appropriate legal machinery be put in motion to expedite the matter.

Proceedings are in progress for the acquisition of this estate. A slight difficulty has arisen regarding a house on the lands and appropriate action is being taken to resolve it.

Would the Minister say if there is any indication now as to when this land will be taken over?

A tenant has occupied the house for some considerable time and the Land Commission made him an offer in January last which he refused. Another offer is about to be put before him. As to whether or not he will accept that offer, I cannot say, but until the Land Commission get full possession, they cannot take over.
