asked the Minister for Lands if he will state in respect of each of the years 1952-53, 1953-54 and 1954-55 (a) the number of holdings or farms not taken over by the Land Commission in County Mayo due to the fact that the price fixed by the court was considered excessive, (b) the situation, area and price fixed by the court in respect of each of these holdings, and (c) the cost incurred by the State in respect of each holding not acquired.

I presume the Deputy is referring to the cases under Section 24 of the Land Act, 1927.
This section provides that where the Land Commission consider that the price fixed on appeal is such as to make the purchase of the land inexpedient, the Land Commission may withdraw from the purchase, on such terms as to costs as the Judicial Commissioner may determine. Eleven such cases arose during the three years in question.
The detailed information in such cases takes the from of a tabular statement, which, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to circulate with the Official Report.
