Vol. 151 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Price Control Orders: Revocations.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the price control Orders, which were revoked in the period between 14th June, 1951, and 2nd June, 1954, the date of revocation in each case, and the price of the commodity concerned immediately prior to the revocation of the Order, as compared with the price at the latest date for which he has information.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to have circulated with the Official Report a statement giving particulars of the price control Orders which were revoked between 14th June, 1951, and 2nd June, 1954.

So far as comparable date are available for (i) the period prior to decontrol and (ii) mid-February, 1955, the percentage increase or decrease in the average retail price is given in the statement.

The Deputy will appreciate that it is not the practice to keep departmental records of variations in the retail prices of commodities not subject to price control and not included in the Consumer Price Index.

Following is the statement:—

LIST showing the Price Control Orders revoked from 14th June, 1951 to 2nd June, 1954 and, where available, a comparison between the prices of commodities in the Consumer Price Index prior to revocation of the Orders and the prices at mid-February, 1955.
