Vol. 151 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Mayo Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that there is grave dissatisfaction over the continued failure of the Land Commission to deal with the rearrangement of the Meldon Estate, County Mayo (Record No. S. 1719), and that in November, 1953, the official explanation for the delay was given as pressure of other work; and, if so, if the Land Commission will have the matter expedited.

There are 17 holdings outstanding for rearrangement on this estate. They comprise 383 acres held in 124 plots and five commonages. The need for rearrangement is recognised but there are more congested estates comprised of even smaller holdings which must receive a greater degree of priority in treatment.
