Vol. 151 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Biscuit Prices.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the percentage increase in the prices of biscuits which may reasonably be expected following on the increase in the cost of flour to biscuit manufacturers.

Because of the varying proportions of flour used and the different prices charged for different types of biscuits, it is not possible to indicate the percentage increase in price which may result from the use of non-subsidised biscuit flour.

It is definite, therefore, that there will be an increase in confectionery and biscuits?

I am sure there will be some increase, yes.

The Parliamentary Secretary has not any idea, I suppose, what that increase is likely to be?

No. Due to the variety of types, we have no idea.
