Vol. 152 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Salthill Development.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he has completed his consideration of the proposals submitted by the Galway Corporation for improvements at Salthill, and, if so, whether he proposes to recommend them for grants from the National Development Fund.

As Salthill is a major tourist resort, the improvement schemes submitted by Galway Corporation for the area are being considered from that point of view in conjunction with other interested Departments and with reference to similar proposals for other tourist resorts. While consideration has not yet reached a stage where a decision on particular schemes can be announced, it is expected that the general procedure for dealing with such applications will be determined in the near future.

Will the Minister say whether this category of work will be financed in some part out of the National Development Fund?

That is a matter that is under consideration.
