Vol. 152 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Grain Imports.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state the quantities in tons, the average f.o.b. price per ton, and the country of origin, of maize, feeding barley, bran and pollard imported since 1st October, 1954.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate in the Official Report a statement showing the quantities in tons, the average c.i.f. price per ton and the countries of origin of maize, barley, bran and pollard imported from 1st October, 1954, to 31st May, 1955. The values shown include insurance and freight because imports are brought to account only on a c.i.f. basis. Separate statistics are not collected for feeding barley as such and accordingly the figures shown relate to all types of barley except seed barley.

Following is the statement:

IMPORTS of certain Cereals and Feeding Stuffs for the period October, 1954— May, 1955.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that the Minister for Agriculture quite recently in this House gave figures for the imports of feeding barley, and will the Parliamentary Secretary now give them to this House?

I am not so aware.

Well, the Minister for Agriculture has them.
