Vol. 153 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Restoration of Lock Gates.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will recommend the provision of a grant for the purpose of restoring the lock gates at Cleggan for the benefit of fishing boats.

No representations regarding the need for restoring the lock gates at Cleggan have been received in my Department. I may add that this harbour is in the charge of the Galway County Council and any such representations should in the first instance be addressed to that body.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that only part of it is in the care of the county council; the rest of it is in charge of the office of Public Works? In any event, would the Parliamentary Secretary make representations to whatever the authority is in the interest of the fishermen?

I will make inquiries.
