Vol. 153 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Inishbofin Pier—Removal of Shingle.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will include in the programme of winter employment schemes provision for the removal of shingle obstructing the use of the pier at Inishbofin, either by means of a grant for the purpose, or alternatively, by directing that the shingle be used, where practicable, in the carrying out of other schemes.

The proposal for the removal of shingle alleged to be obstructing the use of the pier at Inishbofin would not be suitable as a winter minor employment scheme owing to the nature of the work involved. I shall arrange, however, to have further consideration given to the possibility of undertaking the proposal as a minor marine work.
