Vol. 153 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Intestates' Estates.

asked the Minister for Justice whether, in view of the fact that law in the Republic, in relation to intestates' estates, is derived in the main from the Irish Statute of Distribution, 1695, and the Inheritance Act, 1833, and, in view of the urgent necessity for reviewing the law in the light of modern circumstances, he will consider introducing legislation to consolidate these ancient Acts, with suitable amendments, in the near future.

I am aware of the need for legislation to consolidate and amend the law regarding the administration of estates, and I shall have a proposal to make to the Government about it in due course.
