Vol. 153 No. 4

Written Answers. - Cod Fish Prices.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state, in respect of Thursday, 20th October, 1955, (a) the average price per stone paid for cod fish marketed by inshore fishermen, and (b) the price per stone paid for cod fish landed by State trawlers and sold on the Dublin market; further, how many days, or weeks, the State trawlers were at sea before marketing landings on the date in question.

I am not in a position to give the information requested at (a) in the question as it is not procurable by my Department. As to (b) in the question, I am informed by An Bord Iascaigh Mhara that the average price realised on cod fish sold through their depot in the Dublin Wholesale Fish Market on 20th October, was 31s. 1d. per stone in the case of fish forwarded by inshore fishermen and 31s. 4d. in the case of fish landed by two of the board's offshore fishing vessels. One of these vessels had been at sea for six days and the other seven days.
