Vol. 153 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Free Distribution of Trees.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will introduce a scheme to enable county committees of agriculture to promote the free distribution to farmers and landowners of trees which are suitable for afforestation purposes.

County committees of agriculture are authorised under the terms of the Agriculture Act, 1931, to make provision for the operation of shelter belt schemes whereby grants may be made for planting of forest trees provided free or at subsidised rates. I understand that almost all the county committees do in fact operate such schemes at present.
