The amount outstanding with borrowers under hire-purchase and deferred payments schemes at 31st December, 1955, is estimated by the Central Bank at £10.5 million. The corresponding figures for the same date in 1952, 1953 and 1954 are £5.5 million, £6.4 million and £8.4 million respectively.
