Vol. 155 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Costs of Local Authority Houses.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the comparative costs of erecting local authority houses of comparable types in (a) Cork City, (b) Dublin City, (c) Limerick City, and (d) Waterford City, and the percentage of the total costs attributable to (i) materials, (ii) labour and (iii) administration and other costs in each case.

The average cost in recent housing schemes for a typical three-bedroom house in Cork, Dublin, Limerick and Waterford County Boroughs, respectively, has been approximately £1,348, £1,245, £1,310 and £1,371. These figures do not include the cost of site development which is a variable factor. Information is not available which would enable the costs to be apportioned on the lines mentioned by the Deputy.
