asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the most recent estimate of housing needs of local authorities in (i) Dublin, (ii) (Cork), (iii) Limerick, (iv) Waterford, (v) other urban areas and (vi) rural areas.

According to the estimates most recently made by the responsible housing authorities, the housing needs still to be met by them are approximately 2,778 in Cork City, 1,276 in Limerick City, 472 in Waterford City, 6,693 in all other urban districts and 11,553 in rural areas. A recent statement on behalf of Dublin Corporation at a Compulsory Purchase Order inquiry indicates that about 13,000 houses are estimated to be required in the City of Dublin.
