Vol. 155 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Enniscorthy Industries.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he has received representations in connection with the setting up of certain industries in Enniscorthy, County Wexford, and, if so, if he will state the nature of such representations, and if he will give the matter favourable consideration.

I have received representations from local interests in regard to the possibility of securing the establishment of a new industry in Enniscorthy. Representatives of the local interests have been interviewed by officers of my Department and by the Industrial Development Authority; and they have been given information and guidance likely to be of assistance to them in formulating a specific industrial proposal. The Deputy will appreciate that the starting of an industry in any area is primarily a matter for private enterprise and initiative but if local interests succeed in formulating any sound industrial project for Enniscorthy I will do everything in my power to assist in bringing it to fruition.
