Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Unemployment Benefit Claims.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state in respect of Dublin City the number of men having unemployment benefit claims current on 5th April, 1956, or the nearest convenient date; and if he will give the numbers in respect of the corresponding dates in 1955 and 1954.

The total number of men on the Live Register at the Dublin City Employment Exchanges on 7th April, 1956, was 10,734 of whom 6,489 had unemployment benefit claims current. On the 7th April, 1955, the figures were 11,076 and 6,296 respectively. On the 10th April, 1954, the figures were 12,296 and 6,244 respectively.
