Vol. 157 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - East Limerick Estates.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the estates in the electoral area of East Limerick which are at present under examination by the Land Commission, and the present position in each case.

I have nothing to add to the replies given to the Deputy on 8th July, 1954 and 8th February, 1956, to similar questions.

Of course the Minister has nothing to add to his reply because he gave me no reply on the two dates in question. I am still looking for the replies.

To refresh the Deputy's memory, on the 8th July I gave him the following reply to a similar question:—

"East Limerick is not an inspectorate entity from Land Commission point of view and to supply the information sought by the Deputy would entail an expenditure of time and effort which I feel would not be justified. If the Deputy should wish to ascertain the position in regard to any particular case or cases, I will be glad to supply the information."

The Deputy should not forget that.

Is the Minister aware that I subsequently wrote to his private secretary and not alone did I not get a reply, or the information sought, but I did not even get an acknowledgment?

I would be very surprised at that, because it is known far and wide throughout the country that the Land Commission is most punctilious about replying to correspondents.

It was not the Land Commission; it was the Minister's private secretary.
