Vol. 157 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - C.I.E. Superannuation Scheme.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the present position in regard to the proposed revised superannuation scheme for wage-grade employees of C.I.E.

There is no change in the position as set out in the statement published on the 4th March, 1956, following my intervention in the dispute affecting C.I.E. road passenger services. I am informed by C.I.E. that they still expect to receive the report of the actuarial investigation by the end of May. It will then be for the unions concerned to propose to C.I.E. the basis of an amended pensions scheme and for C.I.E. subsequently to submit to me an amending scheme. Any scheme approved by me will operate from the 1st April, 1956, and contributions will be retrospective to that date.
