Vol. 157 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dundrum Sawmills Workers' Wages.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will grant to workers at Dundrum sawmills, County Tipperary, the same increase as was granted recently to forestry workers at that centre.

The wage rates of the workers at the Department's sawmills in Dundrum are no longer related to the county council roadworkers' rate but are based on the rates payable to comparable employees in the County Tipperary area. The Department is at present considering an application for a wage increase by the men but I can give no indication at this stage as to what the decision on this application is likely to be.
