Vol. 157 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Meath Afforestation.

asked the Minister for Lands when the Forestry Division of his Department propose to commence work at Cloneevan and Tobertynan, County Meath.

The Forestry Division acquired recently an area of 108 acres in the townlands of Cloneevan and Tobertynan, near Longwood, County Meath. It is not possible to indicate definitely at this stage when work will start there, but it may not be practicable to commence operations earlier than the summer of 1957.

Will the Minister have the matter further investigated in view of the fact that there is quite a number of unemployed men in that area? Would it not be possible to commence operations some time this year?

In view of the fact that there is likely to be further unemployment in the area will the Minister see that operations are hurried up?

I shall have the matter looked into.
