Vol. 157 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Price of Petrol for Agricultural Purposes.

asked the Minister for Finance whether the price of petrol purchased and used for agricultural purposes will be increased as a result of the Budget proposals, and, if so, by what amount per gallon.

Users of petrol for agricultural purposes will in the first instance pay the increased retail prices resulting from the recent increase in the petrol duty. As I announced in my Budget statement, however, the rate of the existing repayment of duty allowed in respect of petrol used for agricultural purposes in tractors and farm engines is being increased by 5¾d. per gallon so that the effective price increase will be ¼d. per gallon.
