Vol. 364 No. 2

Written Answers. - Emyvale (Monaghan) Housing Scheme.

46.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in the approval of the proposed housing scheme for Emyvale village, County Monaghan as submitted by Monaghan County Council.

There has been no avoidable delay in this case. Inadequate documentation in respect of the proposed scheme was submitted to the Department in July 1984 and a revised layout, together with house and cost plans, was received in June 1985. The site for the scheme poses a number of difficulties because of the steep gradient and the proposals have been subject to alteration in the interests of achieving a satisfactory and cost-effective design. The council have also revised the proposed housing mix in the light of current housing needs in the area. The proposals were recently discussed with the council by my Department's inspector and a formal submission incorporating agreed alterations is expected in the near future.
