Vol. 157 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Salaries of Cork Mental Hospital Nurses.

asked the Minister for Health whether, in the readjustment of the salaries of mental nursing personnel and the re-grouping of mental hospitals into categories, he will ensure that Our Lady's hospital, Lee Road, Cork, and the staff therein will be put on a par with Grangegorman mental hospital.

The remuneration of the nursing staffs in district mental hospitals is in the first instance a matter for determination by the local mental hospital authorities. I have recently approved of increased scales of remuneration for the junior nursing staffs of Our Lady's Hospital, Cork. No proposals have been submitted to me by the mental hospital authority in relation to the senior nursing officers.
