Vol. 157 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Vocational Committee's Building Programme.

asked the Minister for Education whether he is aware that the Dublin Vocational Education Committee cannot proceed with their building programme because of the non-availability of capital, and, if so, if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am aware that the City of Dublin Vocational Education Committee require capital to enable them to proceed with their building programme. Their inquiries in this regard have not so far met with success in the open market, but I understand they are continuing their inquiries and that they hope to be in a position to make a proposal in this respect to my Department at an early date.

May I ask the Minister from what source the capital is usually provided for the building of schools in Dublin?

The Dublin Vocational Educational Committee have borrowed from various bodies, such as insurance companies and other bodies. They borrow on their own.
