Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Prices Advisory Body Inquiries.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the commodities in respect of which inquiries by the Prices Advisory Body were undertaken during the last financial year, and the number of such commodities in respect of which price increases were (a) recommended, (b) sanctioned by him, (c) postponed, (d) refused and (e) still pending.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate in the Official Report a list of the 69 commodities in respect of which inquiries by the Prices Advisory Body were undertaken during the 12 months ended 31st March, 1956.

The number of such commodities on which price increases were recommended by the Prices Advisory Body was 20; the number sanctioned by me was 18; the number refused was two.
