Vol. 158 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Feale Drainage Compensation.

asked the Minister for Finance whether compensation has yet been paid to farmers and landowners in the Feale drainage area whose lands were entered upon.

Persons whose lands are entered upon in the course of arterial drainage schemes are not necessarily entitled to compensation. Claims are considered in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945. Compensation has been paid in a number of cases arising out of works on the Feale.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary say on what scale compensation is being paid in cases of this kind?

Really I do not know what the Deputy means. Apparently they want their land drained and to be paid for the draining of it.
