Vol. 158 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rearrangement of Mayo Holdings.

asked the Minister for Lands whether, in view of the fact that most of the tenants in the Dickens estate, County Mayo, are reluctant to leave their small holdings, the Land Commission will proceed with the rearrangement of the estate as soon as possible.

In view of the difficulty in obtaining possession of additional land on this estate by way of resumption and migration, the Land Commission have under consideration the rearrangement of as many holdings as possible disregarding the question of enlargement. It is hoped to undertake in the near future the rearrangement of a small group of holdings on the estate on these lines and if this scheme is successful further rearrangement will be effected as circumstances permit.
