Vol. 159 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sneem Sewerage Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether, in view of the fact that all documents in connection with tenders for the installation of the Sneem sewerage scheme were forwarded to his Department some weeks ago, he is now in a position to state when the scheme will be put into operation.

A proposal by Kerry County Council for the acceptance of a tender for Sneem sewerage scheme has recently been approved. It is now a matter for the council to enter into a contract for the construction of the scheme and to arrange for the commencement of the work. It is not possible at this stage to indicate when the scheme will be completed and put into operation.

May I take it from the Minister's reply that sanction has been given by the Minister's Department to the scheme, on the tenders submitted?

A proposal by the county council for the acceptance of a tender has been approved by me and it is now a matter for the council to enter into the contract.
