Written Answers. - Dublin-Cork Road.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state in respect of the development of the County Cork portion of the Dublin-Cork road (a) the amount spent since 1950, (b) the sources from which the money was obtained, (c) the amount paid in compensation to landowners, and (d) the approximate amount which it is envisaged will be spent on finally completing the work.

(a) The total expenditure by Cork County Council on improvement work on the 34 miles of the Dublin-Cork Road (Route T6) between the county boundaries at Mitchelstown and at Tivoli since 1950 amounts to £193,000 approximately.

(b) Of the expenditure at (a) a sum of £3,000 was met out of local funds and a sum of £41,000 from grants from the National Development Fund (via the Road Fund). The balance was financed out of grants to the local authority from the ordinary income of the Road Fund.

(c) Particulars are not available in the Department.

(d) The information will not be available until detailed schemes for the other sections of road involved have been prepared by the local authority.
