Vol. 160 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Lucan Housing Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government when the Dublin County Council submitted a scheme in respect of the building of 80 houses at Lucan; why the number of houses in the proposed scheme was reduced to 40; and when sanction will be issued.

Plans for the building of 84 houses at Lucan were submitted to my Department on the 4th May, 1956. An examination of current housing needs carried out by officers of the county council and the Department indicated that approximately 40 houses would meet the urgent requirements of the area. It was, accordingly, considered that the scheme should be confined to the provision of not more than this number initially, and that the position could be examined afresh when these houses had been completed and let. Certain improvements in the lay-out were also suggested to the council. A revised plan for the scheme, which was submitted to the Department on 21st November, is at present under consideration.

The Dáil adjourned at 11 p.m. until 10.30 a.m. on Thursday, 6th December, 1956.
