Vol. 160 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Donegal Housing Grants.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that the Donegal County Council applied to his Department on 6th October last for permission to borrow £50,000 from the Local Loans Fund for the purpose of supplementary housing grants; and if, in view of the serious financial position of many of those who erected houses on the strength of obtaining the grants, he will now make available the required sum.

Housing authorities were requested by circular letter of 22nd October, 1956, to furnish me with details of their capital commitments for housing purposes which are generally financed from the Local Loans Fund.

The loan application to which the Deputy refers will be considered in association with other such applications when the general position, in the light of the information made available in reply to that circular, has been examined.
