Vol. 160 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unemployment in Cork Building Industry.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state in respect of the building industry the number of persons unemployed in Cork City at the latest available date and at the corresponding date last year.

Statistics are not compiled which would enable the information asked for to be given in respect of Cork City alone. Figures are, however, available for the total number of persons registered at the Cork Employment Exchange whose normal occupation is in the building industry. The number on the 17th November, 1956, the latest date for which the information was compiled, was 520. On the corresponding date in 1955 the number was 314.
