Vol. 160 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tulyar: Income and Expenditure.

asked the Minister for Agriculture what the Irish National Stud Company, Limited, estimate to have been the total expenditure and income from all sources resulting from the purchase of Tulyar, and to what extent the bloodstock industry of this country benefited by this acquisition.

I am informed by the Irish National Stud Company, Limited, that expenditure on the stallion Tulyar (including his purchase price) was £263,570. The net receipts which the company derived from Tulyar (including the proceeds of his sale) amounted to £266,400.

It is impossible to estimate to what extent the bloodstock industry of the country benefited from the acquisition of Tulyar. Such an estimate will be possible only when his progeny have been tested on the racecourse.
