Vol. 161 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Farm Buildings Scheme.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he proposes to renew the farm buildings scheme this year; and if he will consider making payments to all farmers who, in 1956, erected hay-barns, cow-sheds or any other out-offices in accordance with his Department's specifications.

As regards the first part of the Question, the acceptance of applications for grants under the farm buildings scheme, which had been deferred since August, 1956, was resumed at the end of January last. As regards the second part of the Question, applicants who carried out works under this scheme in 1956 with the necessary prior approval and in accordance with the prescribed specifications will be paid the appropriate grants.
