Vol. 161 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Milk Costings Commission.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he has yet received the recommendations of the Milk Costings Commission in relation to the cost of producing a gallon of milk; whether he is prepared to accept the figures submitted to the Commission by the firm who examined the costings on behalf of the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers' Association; and what has been the cost of the Commission to date.

As regards the first part of the question, I have not yet received from the Committee on Milk Production Costs the report of their Technical Director——

Oh, tut tut!

——which, by the terms of reference of the investigation, the committee were to transmit to me with such comments thereon as they deem desirable. Accordingly, I am not in a position to say anything about the matter mentioned in the second part of the question.

Oh, my gracious me.

As regards the third part of the question, the cost of the investigation to date is approximately £31,740.

Deputy Ó Briain, I suppose, has a comment to make. Deputy Moher is like the grave.

Deputy Dillon made an idiot of himself.

You are a right bunch of frauds, the lot of you. Silent, O Moyle, be the roar of thy waters.

Order. Question No. 14.

When the empty vessel opposite is finished, I shall go ahead.
