Vol. 161 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Regrouping of Dispensary Areas.

asked the Minister for Health if he has received a proposal from the Rathdown Board of Assistance to regroup the dispensary areas and to appoint an extra dispensary doctor, and, if so, if he is prepared to sanction this proposal.

A proposal from the Rathdown Board of Assistance to regroup the dispensary areas was received in my Department in 1954. This proposal was approved in principle and when the local authority's definite proposals were received in 1956, clarification was requested on several matters which arose out of the board's proposal. The board has been pressed for a reply but it intimated on the 27th July, 1956, that the matter is being considered by the board. I have not yet received the final proposals.

An additional dispensary doctor was appointed in the Sallynoggin dispensary district in a temporary capacity in 1953. This doctor is still acting in the area.
