Vol. 161 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - St. Kevin's Institution, Dublin.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state the date on which (a) final approval was given for the proposals relating to the major reconstructional schemes recently carried out at St. Kevin's Institution, Dublin, and (b) the necessary moneys were allocated from Hospitals Trust funds for the commencement of the work.

Proposals for the improvement and upgrading of the buildings at St. Kevin's Institution, in line with the improvements in services which were being made, had been under consideration during the war years and had to be deferred until conditions in the building trade returned to normal. In September, 1949, a general scheme of improvements, intended to be implemented in stages, was approved. Allocation of the necessary moneys—provided to a substantial extent from the Hospitals Trust Fund—is arranged to meet the cost of each of the approved improvement works as the necessity arises.
