Vol. 161 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Appointment of Women Police.

asked the Minister for Justice if he intends to appoint women police and, if so, when.

I have not yet had an opportunity of examining the question of appointing women police. When such opportunity offers I shall give the matter due consideration.

Does the Minister intend to take an early opportunity of examining this matter? There has been a certain amount of agitation for a number of years past.

I am aware of that and when an opportunity presents itself I will go into it.

I am asking if the Minister will take an early opportunity?

I cannot say for certain when I will be able to do that.
