Vol. 161 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Gaeltarra Éireann Discounts.

asked the Minister for the Gaeltacht if he will state the percentage discount authorised by his Department to be allowed by agents of Gaeltarra Éireann to (a) wholesalers and (b) retailers in respect of (i) linen, (ii), tweed, (iii) knitwear and (iv) toys, etc.; whether any increased percentage has in fact been allowed and, if so, the reason therefor, and whether prior authority had been obtained for so doing; and if he will also state in respect of all cases of the giving of an increased percentage discount without prior authority, the names of firms or business houses to which the said increased percentage was given, and the amount of such increased percentage in each year from 1st January, 1953, to 1st March, 1957, and, in view of the fact that such practices are detrimental to the trade of Gaeltarra Éireann, what steps he proposes to take to end them.

asked the Minister for the Gaeltacht whether in cases of the giving of unauthorised percentage discount by an agent or agents of Gaeltarra Éireann to (a) wholesalers and/or (b) retailers, any attempt has been made to recover the resultant loss in public moneys.

Le do chead, a Cheann Comhairle, ba mhaith liom ceisteanna uimhir 63 agus uimhir 64 a fhreagairt le chéile.

Níl aon údarás ag aon ghníomhaire de chuid Ghaeltarra Éireann lascaine a thabhairt do chustaiméir ar bith. Is ag bainistíocht Ghaeltarra Éireann amháin atá an t-údarás sin. Dá bhárr sin, ní éiríonn na codanna eile de na ceisteanna.
