Vol. 161 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Coal Production.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, in view of the anticipated shortage of coal by 1960 in the countries which are members of the O.E.E.C., he will state whether there is likely to be a more intensive drive for greater coal production in this country in the immediate future.

It is the policy of the Government to ensure the maximum development of all national resources, including our deposits of anthracite and semi-bituminous coals.

Could the Minister perhaps indicate a little more definitely what these proposals in relation to coal are?

I do not think this would be the occasion to do so.

It would be a good occasion to answer the question, anyway.

Let the Deputy start off by asking the question he wants answered.

I have not got an answer.

Have another look at it.
