Vol. 161 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Butter Subsidy.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state the subsidy per lb. paid on Irish butter for the British market.

The loss by the Butter Marketing Committee on the export of butter to the British market which has to be recouped out of the Exchequer depends on the price obtainable on that market and varies accordingly from time to time. On the basis of the cost of butter to the Butter Marketing Committee the loss on the most recent exports to that market is approximately 1/3½d. per lb.
