Vol. 162 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Planting of Ash.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the acreage of ash planted in each county for each of the years from 1952 to 1956, inclusive.

The total number of ash trees planted in State forests in each of the years mentioned by the Deputy was as follows:—

Year

Number of trees

Acreage

1952/53

101,200

84

1953/54

71,400

59

1954/55

129,900

107

1955/56

218,000

181

It would involve the expenditure of an undue amount of official time to extract figures for the planting of ash for each county as required by the Deputy. If he is interested in any particular region I shall be happy to have figures for that region supplied to him.
