Vol. 162 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Division of Mayo Bogs.

asked the Minister for Lands if, in view of the serious shortage of fuel in the townlands of Derryhariff, Graffeymore, Snugborough, Welshpool and Belcarra, he will ask the Land Commission to expedite the division of the bogs acquired by them in the locality of Castlebar, County Mayo.

An area of 230 acres of mixed turbary was acquired last year by the Land Commission in this locality. A scheme for the division thereof is in course of preparation and it is expected that it will eventually be possible to provide turbary facilities for all deserving tenants in the townlands mentioned. Considerable development work must precede the allotment of any turbary, however, but there will be no avoidable delay in the allocation of the area referred to.
