Vol. 162 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Erection of Tipperary School.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state when it is proposed to start work on the erection of the proposed new school at Drom, Templemore, County Tipperary.

A grant has been sanctioned by my Department towards the cost of the erection of a new school to replace the existing national school at Drom, County Tipperary, and the Commissioners of Public Works are at present having working drawings and a specification for the new building prepared, in order to enable tenders to be invited.

Because of the very heavy programme of work in connection with school building which the commissioners have on hands, it will inevitably be some time yet before the position is reached where tenders for the building of the new school can be invited. I regret that I am unable to say when work on the erection of the new school will be started, but I can assure the Deputy that the case will be dealt with as expeditiously as possible.
