Vol. 162 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick Corporation Loans.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is now in a position to approve of loans to the Corporation of Limerick of (a) £60,000 to cover the corporation's requirements in respect of loans under the Small Dwellings Acquisition Acts, and (b) £11,000 to cover payment of local grants.

I have recommended to the Commissioners of Public Works that the loan of £11,000 for the payment of supplementary housing grants under Sections 9, 10 and 11 of the Housing (Amendment) Act, 1952, as amended, be issued from the Local Loans Fund.

In regard to the other loan, I have asked the local authority to review the application in the light of the recent decision to widen the field of eligible applicants for advances under the Small Dwellings Acquisition Acts. When this review has been made, the loan will be recommended for issue from the Local Loans Fund.
