Vol. 163 No. 6

Committee on Finance. - Bretton Woods Agreements Bill, 1957—Committee and Final Stages.

Section 1 and 2 agreed to.
SECTION 3.

I move amendment No. 1:—

In sub-section (8), page 3, line 44, before "8" to insert "7".

These amendments have the effect of adding privilege to the official communications of the Fund. It is the practice here to give privilege to diplomatic communications and we thought that would be sufficient. However, when we consulted the authorities of the Fund and the Bank, they were anxious we should put it in black and white that that privilege is extended.

Does this, in fact, give free postage to the Fund and the Bank authorities, if they come here?

They will not be interfered with, anyway.

But does it give them free postage?

I do not think so.

I would not mind at all if it did.

Amendment agreed to.

I move amendment No. 2:—

Is the Minister going to it?

I could not say that. I am not so fond of travelling as all that.
